Out of the Frying Pan
That old saying
The one that holds you back
That stops you from leaping
And taking a risk.
It stops you
…stops you
…stops you.
Stops you?
From doing something
Being something
Different
Brighter
Better.
“Out of the frying pan
And into the fire.”
It’s hot where you are?
Unbearable heat?
You stay put
Sizzling.
Your leap to freedom
They say…
Will be hot
Uncomfortable
Unpleasant.
So you stay put
Burning.
Burning to try something different.
But you stay put
Until you’re someone’s dinner.
You can
Of course
Ask for the heat to be turned down.
Or use your legs
To jump as soon or as late as you like.
It’s your choice.
But
Stay for the tan, not the burn.
The biggest difference
Between the pan and the fire
Is that the pan stays hot, even when the fire’s gone out.
The pan is ugly
Charred black
Holding you back.
The flame is beautiful
Bright, warm and clear.
What they don’t tell you
Is that you are the fire
The passion is yours
The pan contains you.
Live in the light
And warmth of knowing
That you’re in control.
Be passionate.
Unstoppable.
Raging.
Be the fire.
